  1. Standard install of recent freenas, no probs & all is well
  2. uname -a: FreeBSD freenas.local 10.3-STABLE FreeBSD 10.3-STABLE #0 1a8180b(9.10-STABLE)
  3. Nice reporting graphs
  4. No settings changed regarding to system-dataset, so no system-dataset in use
  5. After reboot all reporting history in /var/db/collectd gone, in fact a copy of some rdd file i made for a check is also gone
  6. It seems /var/db/collectd directory is recreated after boot, has time-stamp of boot
  7. many other directories in /var/db also have a timestamp of the reboot, but not all

It this expected behaviour?
Did i miss an obligatory setting after fresh install?
Anything else?

You always have a system dataset, it's a matter of whether or not you change its default location.

What is the exact build (from System -> Information)?

Hmm, this was supposed to be fixed in 201606072003: https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/15707. Did you do a fresh install of that version, or update to it?
Fresh install.

Other info: when i opt for a system dataset pool, including Reporting Database (i tested with the freenas-boot volume, it is the same volume as /var lives in, i know, just a test), the history is once again gone (history not migrated from /var to whereever it goes) , but afterwards survives reboots.

Probably worth creating a bug report at bugs.freenas.org. If you do, post the issue number here.
