I upgraded to 8.0.4 several weeks ago from 8.0.2. Since that time, the server has crashed with this message printed repeating over and over again. It used to only crash every 2 weeks or so, then 1 week, everyday, and now several times a day. When I manually reboot, everything seems to check out fine until I can no longer access my data, in which case I check the server and it displays that message. Hard to know where to look for a problem! Is it a hardware failure? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi zevoman,

My guess is that your NIC is going\has gone bad.

If you can, install another NIC and disable the on-board one in the BIOS. It might also be worth trying out something like "Puppy Linux" (a run-from-CD-ROM distro) and see if the NIC works better\at all.

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering if the NIC might be failing. I've got a Ubuntu Live CD I'll pop in and see how things run. Worst case, I'll disable the on-board NIC (which I am currently using) and plop in a decided card instead. Standby!
