RC1 is now available...getting closed to a truly stable 11.2

I like RC1 so far. The upgrade from 11.2-Beta3 was boring, though I did need to do a hard refresh in my browser (to clear the cache) in order to get the UI fixes after the server came back online.

RC1 does bring a number of much-needed UI fixes. As far as the new UI goes, I can't say that it's yet as usable as the legacy UI, but it's fine enough for most things.

Just did RC1 upgrade. Smooth as silk. The GUI is improving with ever release. It is very usable now. Still a few rough spots but I think I will like the final product. To early for discovery of any functional bugs.

I'm still on 11.1U6 (terminal 11.1 release) pending 11.2.0 after maybe 1-2 RCs. What I dread the most is the move from jails to iocage jails because I'll have to redo all my TV shows watched status in Plex, ignored status in SickChill, etc. Seems there's no graceful way to have this happen so I don't want to gamble on a beta or RC for this.

If you did upgrade to RC1, I'd like to know if you moved from an 11.1 or 11.2 to it.

Why would you need to redo anything from plex when all you need to do is copy over the data directory from the warden-managed plex jail into the iocage-managed plex jail? I've been using iocage jails since the first became available. I recreated all my jails in iocage and then copied over the data directories and config files, where necessary, of the warden-managed jails into their corresponding iocage-managed jails and started things up. Started up the iocage-managed jail and it was as if nothing changed. I did all this from the host using rsync. They're just directories (and files). You could try this now in 11.1u6 if you wanted play around with it. There's a good thread about installing plex in an iocage jail somewhere on the forum.

This is also how I did it a while back when I switched from warden to iocage and had no issues.

On another note I did upgrade from 11.1U6 to 11.2RC1 successfully and also upgraded all my iocage jails from 11.1 to 11.2-RELEASE-p4. Good to see the upgrade process was painless, I highly recommend though making a back of Freenas and a snapshot of your jails first.

not a success for me :
- vi broken in jails
- devfs rules broken too (openvpn and dnsmasq are broken => devices files hidden)

all was working well in 11.2BETA3

@manzoo my understanding is that the OpenVPN tun/devfs issue was introduced in BETA3. You may have to roll back to BETA2 (where it worked for me) to get around that issue.

BETA 3 work fine for me.

i tried also with an upgrade to RC2, no result even if the referenced bug was solved.
-DHCP server not working due to the lack of bpf device
-openvpn clients and server due to the lack of tun devices
