raid and partition

What im looking to do is set up my NAS so that there is redundancy mirror, so that i can use time machine to back up my mac to it. But at the same time i would like to be able to have a partition so that i can store my music there.

So I 2x 2tb drives mirrored but partition 1.5tb and 500gb

I wanna do that so like i stated above, I can have time machine on the 1.5tb, and then music on the 500gb.

why do you want them partitioned? it really serves no purpose, it's just an arbitrary limit you imposed.

create a mirrored zpool, create 2 datasets, music and backup. give them a quota if you really want too. share them out with your favorite protocol and you're done.
