I have small FreeNAS server with 2 Disks 2Tb. One is off line as it is defect.

pool: volume_A
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices has been removed by the administrator
Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue functioning in a
degraded state

Could I put instead of defect disk one with bigger capacity for example 4Tb

Sorry for newbie question

it appears that you have a mirror rather than a striped volume. With a stripe (akin to RAID0), if a disk were to fail you would lose all your data.

That being said, while you could replace the 2TB drive with a 4TB drive, you won't see the additional storage, until you replaced the other 2TB drive.

Please post the output of zpool status in code tags.

Thank you very much for your reply. I read the manual and found how to do it.
