qlxge not loading on boot

This is for qlogic 8142. Pulled if_qlxge.ko from a freebsd 9.x system. Added if_qlxge_load="YES" to /boot/loader.conf according to qlxge(4). No devices come up on reboot. "kldload if_qlxge" works fine (connectivity TBD, but ql0 and ql1 appear).

Just want the ethernet portion. That is all that seems to be recognized on load anyway.

Yup, that file gets overwritten on boot. Read the section on Tunables in the Guide for your version of FreeNAS.

Ah, relying too much on man pages. Thanks. Anyway, after not getting any sort of link with the qlogic, moved to Intel x520-SR. ixgbe is conveniently compiled in.

But, with the x520 I can only get a link after 'ifconfig ix1 down; ifconfig ix1 up' after a reboot. Who knows - maybe that was the issue with the 8142.

Imagine that is a freebsd or driver issue. Will just throw it in a boot script and call it a day I guess unless there is something else I am missing.
