Hi,

I wanna buy a True Nas mini XL+ to migrate my current zfs which is manage inside my proxmox machine.
I didn't see anything for my specific situation, since it's encrypted, manually created and innside a proxmox and I don't wanna risk anything.
So I got 4 drives on which I manually create an encrypted zfs then manually add it to proxmox.
Now i would know If I can easily move the disk to the true nas and set it to work with the encrypted zfs.
Ideally I would like to be able to provide the key separately, like manually push after starting or true nas that regularly pull it from a specified location.

Hope you can help me and it's not a too dangerous move.

Thank you
Mathieu

Why don't you just copy over the data if it's just a single disk inside proxmox? Least risk by far. Set up new TrueNAS machine according to your needs, including redundancy. Test/burnin. Copy data. Keep original disk as a copy of last resort.

I don't have just 1 disk but 4 in a raidz2 format.
the disks are 8Tb each so 32Tb in total and i don't have 32Tb of spare disk

Then you should probably edit the title of your thread to read "migrate 4 disk RAIDZ2 pool from proxmox to TrueNAS" or something similar.
Sorry, I never used proxmox, so somebody else needs to step in. With a more fitting title your chances to get help will be higher.

If you can, test it. Make a small VM with 4 disks and set it up like you did. Then try migrating that to TN.
Manual pool making isn't something I see recommended a lot so migrating one might be even more dicey. Regardless you will learn something so it's a win win to test. Not on real pool tho.
