Pre-Installation Question : Combining two 1,5TB Drives into one single "partition"?

Heya.

I've currently got Windows 2003 running on a small homebuilt NAS where I have two 1,5TB harddrives "extended?" into one large logical drive since it is easier for me to handle with large backups (not having to search two drives for the same thing)

Does FreeNAS have something similar to this? I recall having toyed around with V7? way back, but whenever I tried combining the drives they just got exponentially slower for each megabyte transferred to them as I copied my data to it.
