Possible to extend single disk to mirror ?

Sry for the noon Q. I read the wikis and I think the answer is yes but there are a lot if ackronyms in don't understand.

thanks that is very very useful. a quick Q on what I read there. I plan to run 2 drive in a mirror. I have both drives but am lacking a Molex to SATA power adapter for the second on so I wanted to set this system up with 1 drive to I could start using it and add the second one to the mirror in a few days when I get the adapter.

Based on what I read there I should have both drives in the same vdev else if one fails the zpool is dead. I also read i can not expand a vdev. If true i think this means i should not set this up until i have both drives operational so i can create the one vdev with both in it.

is that accurate?

You cannot expand a vdev, but you can add mirrors.
