The Connected Data Transporter units are a low (user) tech solution to private cloud and allow geographical separated redundancy and access (park them in relatives cupboard etc.), but they do not (currently) have a solution to allow incremental backups etc.
I think that having a plugin to FreeNAS to facilitate backup program for the data on these devices would be a draw for a good number of new users. Connected Data are likely (now they are back as part of Drobo) to be developing a link to allow backup into their drobo units, if they are not they are missing a trick.
A long shot I know but as they are giving access to the API free [http://www.filetransporter.com/app-developer/] it should be possible to put something together to allow a connection and then use rsync to setup a backup pattern.
