Plex plug-in permissions

Hi there, total noob here, sorry in advance if I am ignorant. I set up truenass on an old computer I had lying around and everything has been running smoothly. I have all of my home media and file sharing setup nicely, but I decided I wanted to try and set it up for plex and have been encountering issues. I understand setting up user permissions, but I cannot figure out how to allow plex to view my content. I set up the source and destination pathways as I have seen in online tutorials, but when I select my destinations in the mounting points option and then start my plex server the media folder is now gone in plex. No matter what folder I select as my destination when I go back to plex that folder disappears. I have seen other people in the past post similar issues on this topic, but none of these fixes have worked for me so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
