Hi,

I have about 200gb of photos. My wife & I mostly use cell phones & have Dropbox setup to download all photos & videos.

I would like to figure out how to have software import the photos & file them in directories by photo (created) date.

Is there someway to dupe check all the photos & then use other software to move the data to dated directories?

Ideally I can use Freenas to store the data.

Thanks,
Rich

In my experience, DupeGuru is quite a nice piece of software. The Picture Edition even visually compares files to identify duplicates with different image formats, resolutions, etc.

Thank you - I will take a look at the software. Any suggestions of having some software that would move the photos into folders arranged by date taken? Right now I have 700 photos (for testing) in a folder called "pics". I would love to have it move each photo into /pics/11-01-2015, /pics/11-04-2015, /pics/11-11-2015, etc.

No suggestions on software, but I might suggest s different directory scheme. I'd make a directory for each year and then look at MM-DD within the yearly directory.

If you are going to do the directories to include year, month and day; I would suggest the format of:

%YYYY%-%MM%-%DD% (example: 2015-03-25)

That way they will sort properly.

I don't know if it will create folders and move pictures, but Google Picasa does group pics by date within its interface. It also has pretty good facial recognition for a free program.
