p440ar vs 88SE9215

hello,

I will use 4x8tb ironwolf sata drives in hp ml350 gen9
Will I see any difference between p440ar (hba mode) and cheap marvell 88SE9215 ?

One is far more likely to fail that the other. Both should "work" in theory as both seem to be probably supported. Why not go with a known good and supported LSI 2008 based card?

I use a hp ml350 gen9
- p440ar make the fans sound like a rocket. even upgraded to 6.60 firmware. The only way to shut the noise was to put windows. tried to hyperv freenas but very poor performance.
- p440ar (hba mode) did not seem to give hdd temp

So I removed the p440, I went to marvell 88SE9215. I did not try the b140i which is on the mainboard. I may try later.
