Hi everyone,
This is probably a stupid question. I do not have my FreeNAS box remotely accessible via SSH, but I do have a windows machine on my network that is accessible through RDP. I noticed a security email from my FreeNAS this morning, indicating a single local login failure from the windows machine over SSH.
When I looked for similar messages, however, I see that I have received the exact same message three times... on 1/4/2017, 1/4/2016, and 1/4/2015. Every time, the message is exactly:
freenas.local login failures:
Jan 3 23:42:08 freenas sshd[48548]: Failed password for root from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx* port 53566 ssh2
(IP address redacted)
Any idea what is going on here? Is FreeNAS just sending me the same security alert once a year?
Thanks for any information.
