Not able to connect over vpn.

I am unable to connect after connecting to my home network thru a vpn. i found this Posible Solution. But i dont think it is the solution since the defaultgateway for me is already the router in my actual network. When connected over vpn i can ping the nas, acces the home printer and ping any and all other devices on the network. yet i am unable to connect to the nas in explorer. please can anyone advice me on how to proceed?
