non-local FreeNAS admin accounts

I want my FreeNAS 11.1-U5 web access and ssh ssh access to authenticate against OpenLDAP, it can fall back to local accounts but I want to not be dependent upon the ROOT account to make changes. In fact I would prefer each time a ssh or web session via root happens that we send an email alert to a person or distribution list.

any pointers?

so I have to look at it like it is a FreeBSD machine and edit config files by hand and hope the GUI does not stomp my settings. LOL
