I have a cheap little 40GB Intel SSD I got to try out 9.3. It was sold as '320 series'. Serial number is SSDSA2CT040G3. It does not give its temperature in the SMART data revealed by smartctl -a. Is there any other way of extracting this information or does it probably just not have a temperature sensor?

It has no temp sensor. In essence, SSDs have a temp range that is higher (and lower) than typical hard drives and doesn't product an appreciable amount of heat. So if your CPU isn't overheating it's a safe bet that neither is your SSD. ;)

Fair enough, but it is in a little cul-de-sac in the case, and I wondered if it would benefit from some perforations. OTOH, that would divert some airflow from the spinning disks. So I've probably answered my own question. BTW, the only other SSD I've ever purchased (Crucial) does give its temperature, so that's why I wondered.

Yeah, my Crucial in my laptop does too. It kind of an enigma to have a temp sensor on an SSD that isn't drawing lots of power. :P

My Crucial does have a temp sensor too.
