Hello all,
good day I hope you all are having. anyway I've been viewing this forum for about a year or so and found tons of useful info here, so thanks is due, and I think I kinda got the idea. I finally decided to build a system. the parts I have so far are the 1Supermicro SC846 case
https://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/4U/846/SC846A-R900.cfm
with a SAS2-846EL1 backplane and a redundant 900w PS, this is just a JBOD with no compute power.
for the head I got a dell R410 with dual E5520s and 16GB of ECC ram, in that I removed the crappy IDK what raid card that came with the server nd threw it somewhere in my closet.
and for storage, i already have 3X3TB WD RED from like 5yrs ago (to be stress tested first, but they seem in good shape) that I will add another 9X3TB reds to it to have a 12 wide RaidZ3. plus a 2X(2X180GB mirrored) SSD for VMs.
all what I need is the HBA, thinking of LSI9207, found two that seems good,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TESTED-LSI-...241091?hash=item3d2dca5a03:g:v8wAAOSwLnBXWH~Z
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-LSI-Logi...824380?hash=item2a78f31a7c:g:xEAAAOSwEzxYdby2
the first is 20USD cheaper, any reason not to go for and go for the second?
and caddies (yes mine came without) and my local supplier wants 9.5USD/pcs, so I found this, unless you guys have no bad experience with this reseller, ill go for it, it actually looks too good to be true, but also I don't mind scratches and such as long as it is doing its job properly
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-SUPER...693319?hash=item4d37812907:g:tTQAAOSwHnFV5go0

I do understand that 12-wide is gonna have a performance issue, but IOPS are not a concern, as long as I can almost saturate a Gbit line or even 100MBps is good enough. my data are all archives of my old work, and media for streaming (up to two streams max), no any files will be worked on while on the nas, and anything IOPS intensive ill put on the SSDs. for my plan is to upgrade later with 12X6~8TB RaidZ3 as well.
so unless if I'm not getting this ~100MBps I'm kind stuck (mentally not literally) of 12 wide RaidZ3

so these are the parts I got, hope I did not do anything stupid or get a wrong part or incompatible stuff. and if any have any experience with the listed sellers for the HBA or the Caddies. so what do you guys think of this? anything i missed or got wrong?
thanks in advance guys.

EDIT#1: boot will be off mirrored 16GB Cruze fit USB thumb drive, luckily the R410 has two internal USB headers.

The HBAs you linked to are for external disk arrays. I take it you want internal? If so so look for LSI HBAs that end with an I, e.g. LSI 9211-8i (etc).

Oh apologies, I forgot to mention, since it's a JBOD and a head system. I'm fixed on external, so ya the 8e varient is what I need.
Thanks for the note
