Getting ready to build to 2 TrueNAS servers for different locations.
They are Dell R620 servers with 2 -300GB HDD, and 5 - 1.6.TB SSD, with 8core processors and 128GB memory.
We are currently running XCP-ng with several VMs all on local storage between to servers in a pool at each location. We want to move these to shared storage for the pools for failover etc...
My plan as of now is the 300GB drives will be mirrored via raid controller on Dell and then put the TrueNAS OS on it.
In TrueNAS - 4 of the SSD drives is mirror them and then migrate my VMs to them after I attach storage to my XCP-ng hosts.
The last SSD drive I will use just as a ISO storage and non critical files to share out and some backups of the VMs
Being the first time ever doing this is there anything I need to take into consideration before migrating VMs?
The servers for TrueNAS have 4 NICs (2-1G 2-10G) the switch I am using is has 1G ports. The XCP-ng hosts have 2-1G ports bonded I have 2 other ports on hosts that I can use for NFS traffic only if need be.
I am looking for best practices and the most efficient setup I can.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
