I would be curious also. I am looking at this platform for my first FreeNAS build, mainly because the motherboard options are phenomenal.
For $110, you can get a motherboard with the following:
-UEFI
-USB 3.0 x2
-6 ports SATA 6Gb/s
-Micro ATX
-32GB max memory
For a bit more ($130) you can get a board with 6 "RAID" SATA 6Gb/s ports and 1 lone SATA 6Gb/s port that could be used for an SSD ZFS cache.
None of the Intel motherboards are this NAS-friendly.
