Total newb
I have a drive (da17) in a 12 disk Z3 array that is sending me a email every couple of weeks (New alerts:* Device: /dev/da17, Self-Test Log error count increased from 13 to 14.) so I purchased a new drive to make as a hot spare but I can't do anything with the new drive (da18)
The new drive shows as 0B capacity
Below is what I have tried
Disk DA18 shows 0B and is not in any pools
da17
VGGN5T4G
7.28 TiB
SASpool
yes
da18
VGGPBN7H
0 B
N/A
yes
If I try to wipe the disk I get
Error: [EFAULT] Command gpart create -s gpt /dev/da18 failed (code 1): gpart: provider: Operation not supported by device
If I try a fdisk /dev/da18 I get
fdisk: can’t get the parameters on /dev/da18
fdisk: cannot open disk /dev/da18: no such file or directory
Can someone please give me a suggestion on where to go next or is it a dead new drive
Ps is there a way to copy text from the shell tried ctrl+insert ctrl+c without any luck
Thanks
Mick
