Hi everybody,
in our company we currently run a Netgear ReadyData 5200 as a backup solution but it has reached end of support by Netgear,
so I was thinking about replacing its own operating system (which is BSD base anyhow but lacks a lot of new features) with
FreeNAS, these are its specs:
• Intel Xeon Quad-core 2.66.GHz processor
• 16 GB ECC Memory
• Two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports with load balancing and failover
• Two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports with load balancing and failover (SFP+ ports)
• 2 USB 2.0 ports
Right now it has 12x3TB disks mounted, but I was thinking to swap one with an SSD to boost performance in general.
What I'd like to is know if this machine supports FreeNAS, if the SSD boost can be applied/useful and if I will be able to
take advantage of the 2x10gb eth ports as well (I'll have to dig more into the os to know the chipset used).
Thank you
