I setup FreeNAS and started to migrate my data and I'm impressed so far. I do wonder if I have the best configuration for my current hardware setup. In the case right now I have 4 x2.5 500gb drives in a 5.25 encloseure with 4x 3.5 bays I have a 2x500 1TB and I'm going to put a 2TB in there as soon as the data is done transfering. I setup the 5x 500gb (4 little and one big) in Z3 to store the family photos and videos. The other 1TB and 500 are CIFS shares for movies and other media. If I have a good backup I can afford to lose the media. Is this the best layout of my needs?
