hello install FreeNAS on an old PC, an AMD "Duron" of 1400 with 390 mb of ram, I only load in safemode,
All I need is to change the menu and set the default to 3

the matter is that with the safe mode, I works perfect.
I could configure the plugins and services and now I can watch movies
with the xbox360, torrent use, etc, without a problem.
even see from tablets with Android, and any player of mindnla

I wonder if anyone can help me with the basic steps
edit the boot menu, and leave the default option 3 of safemode.

not as I can from the shell, get to that partition
find the file that I think I mentioned in botting
editing.
anyone knows it and tell me step by step commands to use?

would be very grateful if you can help me with that,
because when I fail to curb the menu with space and choosing an option 3
this menu is going very fast.
and hangs in half, forcing me to restart,

to fix that, I could leave it in automatic
to only have to turn on the pc.

would help many people who have old pcs and if needed or if used that way.

i read the docs , but only find this

http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Tunables

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?...=FreeBSD+8.3-RELEASE&arch=default&format=html

I think what he's talking about is the "Welcome to FreeNAS" menu while booting freenas.

There's options: 1:Boot freenas default, 2:Boot freenas with ACPI disabled, and 3:Boot freenas in safemode.

He's saying he wants a default choice of "3".

Being that he's only got 390 "MEGS" of ram, I think he's using the wrong nas OS.

Freenas isn't designed to scale down to such low memory. Even if not using zfs, I'd be concerned with that little ram.

If that hardware is the only choice, I think other OS's are better suited to run on such limited hardware.

I wouldn't try to use that system with anything less than 1GB or 2GB of RAM. That's so low I had to wonder why the RAM wasn't turned into a keychain trinket already. :P

is the menu that said titan_rw

http://doc.freenas.org/images/d/d6/Boot.jpeg

I tried it on a P3-700 with 256MB of RAM and there I loaded normally.
(although I'm doing a console arcade with this PC: p)

the problem is not the ram: p but the hardware in the motherboard I think.

but in safe mode, works perfect
in some other forum I found this
-------------------------------------------------- -------
mount-rw /
vi / boot / loader.conf
-------------------------------------------------- -------
hit 'i' to enter insert mode or interactive
Desired make any changes, hit 'esc' to
get out of interactive mode and then: wq
to write and qui t vi

it works but I could not save
I take the esc, or zz, wq, etc.

maybe the boot menu is in another file.
not sure if any of the parameters within the loader.conf.
corresponds to what I need to change.

try going to the menu option 6
and display the variables, with show
but did not see anything significant there.

regarding RAM, braking imports are Argentina,
I can not buy dollars.
and now I have money left over to build a new pc

despite everything, except having to manually select the menu,
the rest it works perfectly.

thus I can not imagine where they finish the 4gb of ram using all
