Hi everybody!

Just completed my first FreeNAS Server consisting of an Intel Xeon E3-1231v3 on an Intel S1200V3RPL with 32GB ECC RAM. This has 2 GbE Intel i210 NICs.
Also added 6 x 6TB WD Reds to the internal SATA 6G ports.

Fresh install of 9.3stable to an USB Stick attached to the internal USB port. Then used the wizard to create a RaidZ2 VDEV/Zpool out of all 6 HDDs and some datasets.

Initial performance test saturated the GbE (110MB/s) while throwing 1TB of video TS files from my desktop computer (Intel NIC, LSI SAS Raid5 of 4 x 3TB WD Reds that yield 400MB/s when copying to internal SSD).

So far I was very happy with the result. More of that in a separate thread ...

Greetz,
Mike

Thanks for the welcomings.

I even thought about getting the Red Pros because of the better URE rating.
But I wanted as much capacity out of 6 drives as possible.
Also I would have used RaidZ3 with 7 drives if the MB had 7 SATA ports (don't want to use an additional SAS controller although there is an IBM M1015 lying around here).
