Hello all,
My FreeNAS system has been running without issues for a number of years now, all credit to the FreeNAS developers !! One of my disks is giving write errors (230) and CKSUM errors (93.8K), my guess is this needs to be replaced, however........
The disk is part of a RAID 10 build, 2X1TB striped to a another 2X1TB, mirrored. These are spinning drives, the pool is used for hosting ProxMox VM's via NFS. Seeing as the cost of SSD's has come down so much since I first set this system up I am considering replacing the bad drive with a 1TB SSD and a good drive on the other stripe with a 1TB SSD. Question is, do I do both at the same time or do I do them one at a time. My concerns are around the stresses placed on the disks whilst the rebuild is taking place as once these two disks are replaced I will then replace the remaining spinning disks with SSD. I can either apply the changes using three re-silvers, or two. Just wondering if anyone else has been through a similar process and what issues/gotchas they may have come across ?
Thx
