Hi,

Some time ago I noticed FreeNAS made an update which allowed my to move files on my FreeNAS without it going through my network e.g. sending to my computer then back to the FreeNAS.

For some reason it is doing this for some time. What am I missing, how do I get instant file moving when moving files on the NAS. I am currently using AFP on mac, but can use SMB if needed for this.

I'm not sure I completely understand what you are saying here, so let me ask: you are saying FreeNAS, through an update (could you be more specific?) allowed you to do server side copies on shares?

For some reason it is doing this for some time.
Doing what exactly?

The reason I am confused is because it seems the above statement is in direct contradiction the first statement you made about an update allowing you to do server side copies. Clearly I'm not understanding something here.

Before I give an answer to a question that I'm at best, guessing at, can you describe you problem in a bit more detail. Also per forum rules, please provide your FreeNAS version and full hardware specs so we don't have to ask for them later if need be.

Hi,

Sorry thought my details were in my signature. Might have to update it again as it's been a while.

I figured it out. It was caused by me not transferring files on the same share. I thought I was but wasn't.

Thanks.

Glad you got it figured out. Yep transferring between two different sharing protocols won't work the way you want it to.

Please mark thread as solved.
