Moving boot disk

Hi!

I've got a HP Microserver G8 running FreeNas. The server has a mirror + spare of 3 disks, that I use to store data on.
I boot and run the system from a mirror of 2 USB-devices (one disk and one stick).

As some of you know, booting from USB on the Microserver isn't straight forward. Right now the server ONLY boots from USB if i connect one of the sticks to the internal USB-port when the "graphical POST" is running.

Now to the question: Is it possible to move the boot and system to the "data mirrorset", and how do I do that?

Regards,
Fredrik

No. FreeNAS has the OS separate from the data by design. Get a small SATA SSD, install FreeNAS to that, and you should be good to go.

Thank you.
I guess I could remove the spare from the dataset and create a mirror on two SATA-disks.

As @danb35 said above plus:

Save the config (*). In case you lose the boot disk in the process, it is just reinstall in the new ssd and import the config. All will be running again.

(*) Do that periodically or when you make changes to your server :)
