I would like to mount a SMB2/SMB3 share from another server inside FreeNAS or inside a FreeBSD jail running on FreeNAS.

afaik mount_smbfs only supports SMB1 and inside a jail mounts are not possible? or am i missing something?

how could it be done?

kind regards!

I've ran into the same issue, I did manage to mount a SMB share on the FreeNAS server but haven't tried inside a jail yet. The share I mounted was on my FreeNAS test server. I made a post about it here, but the entire thread contains some useful information.

If you manage to figure out a better way to mount an SMB share with SMB2/SMB3 protocols I would like to know also.

so, if i understand correctly you suggest to tune the SMB server back to allow SMB1 again? that's not really desirable :/

No that is not what I'm suggesting but it is the only way I figurred out so far to get it to work. I agree it's not desirable. Maybe for a one-time transfer of data it's acceptable. Maybe an NFS share could be a solution. I don't know what kind of host you're connecting to.
