Mount a VM

Hi,

I'm trying to find out of if BHYVE can do something that, apparently, KVM can do. (not sure about it). I'm told that KVM can mount the partitions of a VM and allow editing of the files on those partitions without having to boot the VM.

Is this possible to do? If so, how?

Thank you!

Some hypervisors use a trick which typically relies on VM guest tools to share a volume/drive/folder with the host.

Bhyve doesn't provide that option as far as I can see.

Well, honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way. It becomes non-portable. Personally, I think we should treat VMs like physical machines with obvious perks like cloning. Basically, on FreeNAS, I just ticked the 'dont start until VNC' box under the VM's Devices->VNC->Edit and it gave me enough time to get to grub and boot single user. I made the changes and then halted it. Un-ticked the box and I'm done. I'm finding that people are not completely understanding a lot of things with these non-portable tools.... booting single-user and not understanding how? Really?

Thank you for the response.
