I'm trying to use rsync to backup several Mac Servers to FreeNAS volumes. FreeNAS runs 3.x and the Macs have rsync 2.6.2 and 2.6.9. I understand rsync 3.x preserves the old AFP resource forks. Any suggestions on whether this will work? I would like to initiate rsync on the servers, but that in the past(other RAIDs) blew away the resources forks. Is this a PUSH/PULL issue or is this even possible? On the newer servers I've been able to update rsync and it works, but on the dinosaur Mac(s) I can't seem to get the rsync updated. Very puzzling! Just able try it with one non-critical server. Too much data at stake to experiment with any of the others. Just looking for guidance...

Perhaps I should clarify by quoting from the DropSync Help page:
Under the hood DropSync uses a tool called rsync to perform the actual syncing. Two different versions of rsync are provided, one based on the 3.10.x branch and another based on rsync 2.6.9 that has some OSX specific features enabled. For most situations the default (3.10.x) rsync is best.
