Mirror of a Strip Array (or backup)

I am trying to create a mirror of a stripe array i created in freenas 8. The stripe raid is of 2x 500GB drives and i want to mirror that strip to a 1TB drive.

If this is not possible is there an easy way to just do replication or a direct backup to the 1tb drive? Or would it just be easier to setup a 2nd freenas server and do rsync?

It's not possible to mirror a stripe, 2 vdevs, to a 3rd vdev. If you had 2 individual drives you could mirror each existing vdev.

It's probably easier to replicate to a 2nd local zpool, but a 2nd FreeNAS server gives you higher availability. I'd go with a 2nd FreeNAS server and zfs send/receive if you're not opposed to it.
