Due to initial hardware constraints, I create two mirrored arrays of 1TB and 2TB. I put both into a single zvol. Unfortunately, one of the drives is now reporting bad sectors and the scrub moves the data off those successfully. I have since picked up 2 more 2TB drives and would like to re-configure the setup.

How would I go about moving to a RAIDZ2 config from where I am today?

What is your plan, youre going to create a RAIDz2 with 3 hdds? RAIDz2 requires at least 4 hdds, preferably 4 2Tb hdds so you have the max amount of space, if you have 3 2Tb hdds and throw in a 1Tb for the 4th youre cutting all 3 of those 2Tb hdds in half usable space wise

I think the OP means their box current has 2x 1TB and 2x 2TB, and they're ready to replace the 1TB drives with 2TB drives (assuming the bad drive is one of the 1TB units). If so, then @danb35 's directions are correct.

Correct Robert. Removing the 2x 1TB and replacing with 4x 2TB. Might actually have two more 2TB on the way on top of that bringing it to 6x 2TB.

Learned a lesson on this one. Don't create a pool spanning two mirrored pools.

All is kind of silly considering the chassis this thing is in. It's a Dell Optiplex 380 Celeron D w/ 4GB ram. One drive is currently on SATA1 until the new SATA card comes in.

You'll need to upgrade that to 8GB to meet the minimum requirement for FreeNAS 9.3. I'll assume you're making an informed decision about not having ECC RAM.

A SATA I port isn't going to be a bottleneck on your system, unless your 2TB drives are unusually fast.

What HBA did you order?
