Hi,

I set up a FreeNAS box but I have a issue with the home directories. When I set up one user directory and I set up another, all is messed up. The first home directory is on /mnt/disk1/user1a and when I create another home directory at /mnt/disk1/user1b the home is found to be at /mnt/disk1 so user who login as user1b can see the files and folders of the user user1a .

Why this happen and how to fix that?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Guillaume

When you create the user you specify the home Dir permissions. You will want to remove read permissions from group and other.

I don't know but if I put for the user "user1b" this home path in the user creation window: /mnt/disk1/user1b all seem to be ok but before I just had to put /mnt/disk1 (by browsing the directories tree) and the user "user1b" was in his home directory named user1b . Why this thing happen now? It is a bug with FreeNAS?

I think you might just be getting confused. I sense this because your questions don't make sense. I'll explain, when you first create a user you specify a directory to put their home directory in, ie the parent directory. After that the users directory is auto created. The next time you look at the user in the ui it will show you the full path including the user directory. I think this is the behavior you are seeing. This has always worked this way and isn't broken really. It just behaves in an uninventive way.

If you want more help read the forum rules and post all the required information.
