  • Owner (group): wheel
  • Apply Mode: checked
  • Mode: all checked but Write > Other
  • Permission Type: Unix
  • Set permission recursively: checked (while changing permissions)
CIFS share
  • Path: /mnt/plex/media
  • Use as home share: not checked
  • Name: media

I had untold amounts of grief trying to get this sorted out myself. The first thing that comes to mind is, are you sure that you have set up the Jail storage properly?

What I ended up doing when I needed to change a jail storage, right or wrong, was as follows because I found just trying to EDIT them did not produce the desired result and led to odd and undesirable behavior.
  1. Turn off the plug-in
  2. Delete the jail storage
  3. Recreate the jail storage
  4. Turn the plug-in back on
  5. Recreate the appropriate link within the plug-in GUI.

I have performed 1-4 probably ten time over the last couple days. With different results every time, but always some sort of permissions issue with the plugins.

However, I am not sure what is involved to do #5?

Today I deleted my Windows Share and changed Storage permission settings for the following directory plex and it's to childern (jails and media):
  • Apply Owner (user): checked
  • Owner (user): nobody
  • Apply Owner (group):checked
  • Owner (group): nogroup
  • Apply Mode: checked
  • Mode: all checked but Write > Other
  • Permission Type: Windows
  • Set permission recursively: checked (while changing permissions)
The Plex, Couch Potato, and Sonar plugins started okay and I was able to add existing TV series to Sonar.

I can also now delete /media files from Windows 7

The SabNZB plugin would not start, even after restarting it's jail. So I deleted it's storage and then the plug in. I reinstalled it and then added /media as storage. Now it starts.

However, I am still getting the following errer when I try to add /media folders and they dont' take:
ERROR: download_dir directory: /media/downloads/incomplete error accessing

You should never change the permissions of your root dataset. In this case that means you can't change the permissions of plex dataset. If you want to have something you can share you need to create something like media and use that for sharing and mounting.
