mass permissons change through cifs slow

I have my zpool set to use windows acls, and I need to make a mass change on some permissions have them be inherited to the child folders/files. When doing this from a windows box to the samba share, it is incredibly slow. If I do this for one of my shares on a windows machine its not bad at all.

What is the deal?

Changing permissions in the gui too much?

storage/volumes/view volumes.
Ftp was fast at changing them.
