Current FreeNAS seems not support this controller. It doesn't see any disk connected through this disk. thus it won't be able to create a storage to run NAS.

Hopefully this driver can be included soon.

No I didn't create that ticket. I first asked around in the forum a couple of days ago and was directed to report since there is no such driver in FreeNAS distro' yet. Yet, my controller is actually 88SE6480 though. think mvsas can do them all, including the one in 3253.

I just did a quick search of your controller. It looks like one(or more) of several scenarios are playing out:

1. No drivers that actually function reliablity exist for FreeBSD.
2. Marvell has released drivers for that controller, but they sucked horribly and were riddled with bugs and errors. They tried to fix it twice, but things didn't improve.
3. The controller requires a whole new driver to be written for it and it doesn't appear that anyone has written one for FreeBSD yet.

Honestly, I'd just give up on that controller and look for something else to use. The IBM M1015 reflashed to IT mode is the card of choice for ZFS. Supports >2TB drives, 6Gb/sec SAS, PCIe 8x with 8 ports, etc and all for about $100 USD. Hard to beat that price!
