Looks like Veracrypt is supported on FreeBSD 11

I have some interest in it for local USB external backup drives for carrying off-site. Would this ever be a good option, or are there already better ones? All the encrypted USB backup threads I've seen always made it sound like the other FreeBSD encryption options had major compromises.
