Local backup replication confuses my jails?

Hi,

I'm doing a weekly backup (replication) of my pool to a backup drive. (always mounted).

1) I don't want my backup pool to be shown in my pool view on the GUI. so I disconnected it. but from the cli. I make sure that it is still mounted.
this seems to work. Any other, better, more elegant solution? (reason to hide it from the GUI is that I have made the mistake to create dataset on the wrong pool, there's no need for me to see my backup drive in my pool GUI, and the triangle/expand doesn't stick)

2) when I reboot the server, my jail get all confused, it says I have duplicates, so I have to use the shell to
iocage activate mygoodpool
and that works, now my jails can start etc.
What am I missing? why is a backup drive messing my jails up and why is iocage activate not sticking? should I put it in an rc? init script?

I can hack it, but looks like I'm missing something profound in the design of freenas here.
