large folders via SMB just hard-dismount under OSX Ventura

Sadly I can report that the issue being discussed here (but that I can not respond to anymore) is still happening after all these years. I'm now on a brand new M2 MP and over 10Gb ethernet it's still the same behaviour. Scanning large folders with Chronosync or Carbon Copy Cloner and the SMB volumes just pop away while the backup scan is ongoing as soon as the backup software get to the very large folders (10k+ items).
OSX 13.6 and TNcore 13.0-U5.3.

I still have no clue what the cause is as nothing's being logged when it happens.

It's a
i3-9100F CPU @ 3.60GHz
in a supermicro 8-slot server with an Intel 10Gb Network card. (but same issue when using the onboard 1Gb interfaces)
SuperChassis 825TQC-R740LPB
8 drives in Z2 config
32GB RAM
Speeds are great. Just this one issue is really annoying.
Thanks!

I just did. Nothing unusual was shown when the volumes dropped offline. Unless I'm not able to read the output properly. Chronosync was scanning when this happened.

Looks normal to me.
Maybe same problem as:

ARC stats maybe interesting to look at.

my stats on the last tests. those spikes correlate to the backup scans. No idea what unit the graph is. 60m as in 60M (million) requests? I guess m would be "milli" which wouldn't make sense.

OK so these figures must be a bug in the GUI. Today when I zoom out those same spikes from yesterday now show as 8m not 60m?!

I'm very curious how other people work with TN in Mac based Media production setups. Folders with 10k+ items are pretty common working with AVID MediaComposer and usually these setups have 99% Mac clients often even 100%. Currently (well actually for years now) I can't even look into these folders without the network volume just dismounting without any error message.
If anyone is using Scale I wonder if it's same issue on that flavour of TN?

Except waiting for a fix of SMB for apple or adding more RAM I really don't know. You already enabled all the Apple specific options for SMB, didn't you?
Like multichannel, Charakter encoding, etc.

Well the person in the other thread had this happening with 256GB of RAM so I'm not too optimistic that RAM will avoid it.
I was told not to mess around with AUX parameters and keep those at default so I have no entires there. The others I have are these:

Ok, so I've now doubled the server's RAM to 64GB and still the same problem. Also tried NFS but speed is very slow compared to SMB. 30MB/s over 10Gb/s connection so that's no alternative either.

For what it's worth..I have taken the plunge and migrated to latest Scale and it hasn't helped with the SMB disconnects. I will be moving to NFS which does not show the behavior. NFS being significantly slower than SMB (200MB/s vs. 800MB/s over 10GB) is a bummer but definitely better than those dis-connect that drive everyone crazy.

Just for reference does anyone who is affected by that problem run a metadata special vdev?
Been thinking about getting a MacBook for couch use.
