Hi, has anybody experience of using this card chipset with FreeNAS 9.2.1.5? Considering it on next purchase
Will it work?

Why would you buy it as a dedicated card over a known-to-work-well intel card which are quite cheap nowadays?
Or is it an onboard card? Does the mainboard support ECC?
'Killer' cards are usually found on gamers boards which wouldnt be ideal for a FreeNas system...

And sorry, i dont know about Killer cards, but usually they improve latency for online games; not neccessarily benficial for storage networks

Those cards are dubious for gaming. For a server? Forget it.

Intel's 30 buck GbE PCI-e adapter is a much better choice.

Intelligence has decreased on this planet, for sure.
Would anybody be both intelligent and kind to tell me if this network card chipset is supportedwith the aforementioned freeNAS Build?
If someone has a mobo with it, just boot it and see if it is detected and working.
Not interested in opinions about intel cards, please stay on topic. I do have my reasons for employing this card in a project.

Pardon me, but if you want to hear from a bunch of yes-men, I suggest you go look for such "advice" elsewhere.
You said:

Which means you don't have the card yet, which means anyone with half a brain and knowledge on the matter is going to suggest you pick something else.

If you want to act like a prick, don't expect any helpful advice from anyone.

Because someone might stumble on this thread in the future, I will provide some more helpful comments:

It's unlikely anybody would be using one of those things with FreeNAS, because:
a) It's targeted at a completely different market
b) Intel is the standard - you don't see enterprise servers with anything like that card
c) Driver support is almost certain to be lacking, at least in FreeBSD
d) It almost certainly provides no tangible benefits even within its target market

Please look for the card's chipset in the FreeBSD 9.2 Hardware Compatibility List. If it's not listed, it won't work. If it is, Intel is still a better option.

You are right, it has. I saw the topic and I facepalmed. Why someone would even consider a card like that for a setup such as a server is very very much beyond me. Even if it worked I wouldn't recommend it just because of the history of problems that have plagued the card.

I'm locking this thread as we don't need another flamewar over NICs here.
