9.2.1.5 crashes on boot with a: Kernel panic: "Bogus interrupt trigger mode"

This happens on a new Intel Bay-trail D J1900 board (Asrock Q1900B-ITX board).

Apparently this is not unique for this board, but also happens for some other bay trail boards.
I found this Issue, that describes the problem pretty well, and also includes a patch.

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=187966

It is already included in FreeBSD-11.0-CURRENT, which boots fine.

I tried applying the patch to 9.2.1.5-STABLE and rebuilding freenas, and i can confirm that it works.
Any chance that this could be included in 9.2.1 branc soon'ish ?

If you know how to use git you could put in a pull request and get it added to 9.2.1.6. ;)

Just some info soee since you have access to the hardware.. I'd like to think that the devs will give this priority and put it in a beta for 9.2.1.6. If that's the case it would definitely be beneficial to verify the patch works before you get to 9.2.1.6-final. You probably don't want to wait until the next release. ;)

After having spent an hour or two, trying to figure out where to put the patch, I determined that the easiest place to do it was within truos.

So.. here goes : https://github.com/trueos/trueos/pull/11

I have already the patch running smoothly on my freenas at home, but I will of course be happy to do a test, when there comes a nightly/beta build of freenas that includes that patch.

Woohoo! I'm in IRC trying to get someone to pull that baby in.

I think it would be a good idea to upgrade to the nightly that has that pull request incorporated. You know, just to be 100% sure it integrates and works properly. I'm running the 9.2.1.6-beta nightly and I've got no complaints that aren't complaints with previous versions of FreeNAS.

Hello, I am new here and have not much experience in freenas .
I tried yesterday to install freenas on a j1900 board and boot failed , kernel panic.
I have bios version F2. Board is GA-J1900N-D3V. I boot from usb.
I used the 9.2.15 as well as 9.2.16-beta 64bits and both failed.
If you need someone to test something with this board to make it work or if you have some solution for me, you are welcome.

Edit: more infos

I can confirm this, your patched image works on my Bay Trail (ASRock Q1900-ITX). But during boot some errors occur, resulting in a long boot time of maybe 4-5 minutes.

I uploaded a screenshot of the error for your reference:
http://www.blaupausen.net/download/20140516_FreeNAS_9.2.1.5_Bay-Trail_Fix.jpg

On this screen the system hangs for arround 3 minutes.

Nevertheless, soee, Thank you very much for your version of FreeNAS wich works in the end.
