Hello,

I am running 9.1.1. My FreeNAS setup cannot go more than a day or so without freezing up. I am receiving the error "kern.maxfiles limit exceeded by uid 80, please see tuning (7)."

Yes, I did a search before posting this. (I'm not one of THOSE people LOL)

My setup:

Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard
AMD FX-4130
8 gigs RAM
4 4-terabyte drives
ZFS
SMB

This is happening to me too. I've raised the value from ~12300 to 20000, but it still goes unstable and reboot from time to time. It may have something to do with the CIFS service, because it happens when users make intense use of the service in directories containing a large number of files.
The problem started after upgrade to 9.2.1, I've been using freeNAS since 2012 with no troubles.

Billy, adding a sysctls with a higher value did work for you?
