Hi all -

I have a FreeNAS implementation that is actually acting as ZFS storage for about 50 VMs via NFS and iSCSI.

I am thinking of joining it to a domain so I can do CIFS shares with AD auth. Will I need to reboot the FreeNAS machine if I do this?

Thanks,
Jon

Probably not. Samba config can be done by just stopping, reconfiguring, and restarting samba. You might end up with some interesting race conditions if your DCs are hosted on your freenas server. In your situation I'd probably add one more windows server VM and use it to serve SMB.
