Hi
I am completely lost. I updated my NAS from freeNAS corrall to 11.2beta2 and then in hope of resolving issues to beta3.

  • My SMBShares are very slow and disconnects randomly from the windows machine connected to them.
  • The UI disconnects often and randomly.
  • When i reboot the network link sometimes go from up to down 5-6 times.

I cant roll back to freeNAS corall beacuse i updated the pools.

I have tried forcing SMB1 - no effect!
I have tried System -> Tunables and select Add Tunable. Set Variable=net.inet.tcp.reass.maxqueuelen, Value=4096, Type=Sysctl. Reboot. - to no effect

Is this a driver issue with my networkcard?

Any or all suggestions are welcome!

Long time freeNAS user.

When I reboot the system some sort av errors occurs, and freenas saves a bugfile, when i tries to get a uplink to the network. Does anyone know where this bug file is located?

It would be helpful to provide the specs for your system.

- First of all, what is your boot device?
- Did the original system run OK when Corral was installed?
- When you updated from Corral to 11.2-beta2, did you perform an online update, or do a clean install? Did the problems show up immediately after the update?

It is possible, of course, that something on the motherboard has gone bad - but I would not consider this the most likely problem. Intel motherboards are good and my experience with them is very positive.

Forget forcing SMB1 and the tunable. You should not need either of these for a stable system.

Unless you need a feature that is part of 11.2-beta, I would try a clean install of 11.1-U6. This is the latest stable production version. If you need something that is in 11.2-beta3, then do a clean install of that.

If you are booting off a USB flash drive, then get a new one. Flash drives are not reliable for newer versions of FreeNAS and frequently go bad - often when doing system updates. A small SSD for booting would be better...

Do not reconnect your data pools until you have a stable installation of FreeNAS. It is best to fix one thing at a time. Once you have FreeNAS running OK, then you can import your pools.

i made a clean install - i always do that due to prior experience.

Everything worked well except plex.

i have a usb flash drive - have tried two different ones but not a new one.

will try the 11.1 release - will the upgraded pools from 11.2 work with 11.1?

Also check your network switch, change ports etc.

Initial tests is promising...

I used rufus to make an DD of the iso file. This seems to be the answer for me. Running 11.1 now with one drive no issues yet.
