Is this normal ?

Hi everyone !

I am currently discovering Freenas and I have a question concerning the way the HDD standby is working.

for information, my configuration :
-Enermax HX520w
-Intel e5200
-Asus P5e
- 4x samsung F4 2To (RAIDZ)

I configured Freenas to get the 4 drives entering standby mode after 30min. This is working perfectly. The problem is that when the HDD need to wake up, they actually don't wake up all at the same time but one after the other. The 1st drive wakes up (need around 5-10 sec), then the 2nd wakes up, etc... which is quite long.

Is this the normal way for HDD to wake up ?
How can I make them waking up all together ?

It's the way it works on my system - staggered spin-up. On some disk controllers you can configure parallel or staggered/sequential spin-up, but by and large I think most will use the latter system. There is no option within FreeNAS to change this behaviour.
