I have std firmware running on this, but I am *not* happy with it; so please convince me that FreeNAS is a possible answer

Can I boot this machine with a usb image of FreeNAS? I read on the documentation site that after installation it shows a menu on the screen: but this NAS-box does not have a screen. --> Does that mean I need to SSH to it after first boot for completing the installation? Does FreeNAS provide an SSH-opening 'during' install the first time? If yes: which user/pwd?

a lot of questions; Looking forward to hints, answers, directions... :)

Hi stephanvaningen,

Based on what I have been able to find out about the device, no you can't. It looks like it is based off a Marvell (maybe ARM based?) chip which freenas doesn't support.

If you aren't happy with it, send it back if you can.....based on what it looks like the thing costs you could build yourself a really nice little nas box for much less.
