Is it possible to intergrate a Feature to set up and manage Storage VM´s like N**app does in their OS? Which means to delegate a Pool or Datasets to a Jail an manage them their. Also setup protocols like CIFS/NFS and Iscsi in them.

The capability already exists to pass a full ZFS dataset into a jail.

Yes, that´s because why i am asking. But currently all of these "Storage Virtual Machines" need to be administrated without an easy gui. It would be also easier to manage that virtual machines on node failover, because you didn´t need a virtual ip, instead of the current implementation. 1 Host = 1 Storage Box. Run every protocol in Jails does also mean i can Partition a Storage System to my customers. What i mean is, that Truenas and also every other storage os could not be a true game changer in the storage world without that features. And this is why most cutomers go to N**app.

I think true nas scale would be a great project but it lacks on support for storing nfs4 acls in zfs, because linux does not supports it. FreeBSD instead support this and it´s used and supportet by Truenas. But in the end 1 Host = 1 Storage Box.

In Ontap which also based on FreeBsd booted from a Geom Zip file the functionality of SVMs is similar to FreeBSD Jails the only thing which is stored in the Jail´s root Volume is the configuration and logs of the svm. The SVM itself boots from a read only filesystem where only an individual configuration is mapped on. This also means you only update the cluster fw and an updated svm fw image is included.

In general a clustered truenas with svm support would be very useful. On Ontap based systems the cluster management node is also a Jail which is running the configuration Webinterface of the cluster and it also runs the cluster heartbeat service and act as quorum device. The Ontap wafl fs is also not a true clustered filesystem each pool(aggr) can only bound to one node in a cluster. This could also be possible with zfs, but no one has it currently implemented like this.
