Hi,
I'm testing FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE-201605021851 on VirtualBox 5.0.20.

I have created 4 Normal (VHD) fixed size (2.4GB each) disks connected to a SATA controller + 1 connected to an IDE controller for booting FreeNAS.

From the GUI I can see, in Storage\Volume\View Disks, 4 disks named ada1 to ada4 each of 2.4GB.

I'm taking 2 of them and crating a mirror, then striping the two mirrors.

In Storage\Volume\View\Volumes, each mirror is around 200MB?
Why is that? I'm expecting around 2.4GB each.

By default, 2 GB from each disk is set aside for a swap partition. You can change this value in the web GUI if desired.

You are right thank you.

Normally when I set up a VM to play with, I'll use 20GB disks.

On a production machine you should have sufficient RAM, so the system doesn't need the swap space. One of the primary uses of the swap space is to facilitate disk replacements, when the size of the new disk is slightly smaller than the original disk.
