Inquiry on a dual Intel NIC Performance on a FreeNAS server

need your inputs...

last night, had upgraded my FreeNAS server from the old & trusted PD 925 to a SB Celeron G530T (sold my unused SB Celeron G465 and changed to this one)... i was wondering if adding one more 1Gb Intel NIC and set it up as a LAGG could increase the throughput. tried the 1Gb intel NIC and the 1Gb mobo's on-board NIC (Athertos) and set it up as a LAGG but there was no performance increase when compared to a single 1Gb intel NIC...
